Boylan and McDonald host round-table meeting on Moore Street to discuss street drinking and anti-social behaviour

Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD and Cllr Janice Boylan recently facilitated a round table meeting with representatives of the Moore Street traders to discuss concerns around the increasing level of on street consumption of alcohol and anti-social behaviour. Senior officials from Dublin City Council and the Gardaí were also present.

Speaking afterwards, Ms McDonald TD said;

“I share the traders’ concerns that the level of on street drinking and anti-social behaviour is on the rise around the Moore Street area. The Dáil has a job of work to do to ensure the Public Health Alcohol Bill is enacted soon which will help regulate the sale of alcohol.

“The Gardaí also have a job of work to ensure a safe environment for all our citizens and I welcome initiatives which are being taken to address our concerns.”

The Dublin Central Teachta Dála concluded;

“The Moore Street traders have been a part of the vibrant trading tradition in our city stretching back over many generations. Dublin City Council has a responsibility to ensure that the area is maintained to a very high standard and I welcome commitments from DCC officials that the traders’ recommendations will be considered.”
