Boylan demands greater clarity from Housing Minister

Dublin City Sinn Féin Councillor Janice Boylan has criticised Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy TD for failing to provide credible answers following his attendance at a Dublin City Council meeting to discuss the ongoing housing crisis. Cllr Boylan asked the Minister a number of questions during last night’s meeting of Dublin City Council and has since written to the Minister’s department seeking urgent clarification.

Following the meeting Councillor Boylan said,

“I’m concerned that the Minister was unable to answer a number of questions which I asked him including clarification as to when exactly the affordable housing model would be introduced. I also enquired as to whether previously announced developments such as the O’Devaney Gardens project would be threatened due to an inflation increase; however the Minister didn’t answer that question either. The Minister did confirm that funding is still being made available for the Dominick Street development.

“I have since written to the Minister asking for urgent clarification to the other issues I raised last night. With the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis gripping our city, it’s important that Government Ministers are on top of their brief and appear to be serious about tackling these important matters.” CRIOCH
