McDonald calls on Government to ensure work on Naomh Fionnbarra GAA Club completed

Local TD Mary Lou McDonald today called on the Government to put in place the financial reassurances for subcontractors who have walked off site at the Naomh Fionnbarra GAA Club’s new all-weather pitch following the collapse of Carillion.

The Sinn Féin Deputy Leader said:

“As a result of the financial collapse of Carillion subcontractors have walked off site at Naomh Fionnbarra GAA Club in Cabra with just two weeks remaining to complete work on the all-weather pitch. Club members and locals alike will be heartbroken by this turn of events.

“Whilst I welcome the Taoiseach’s commitment earlier this week to resolve the problems arising from the Carillion collapse I have sought confirmation from him that the Club will be included in solutions put forward.

“I’ve also contacted the Minister for Education and Skills as it his Department who has contracted the work in exchange for land provided by the Club to the neighbouring Gaelscoil Bharra PPP school building project completed last year.

“It will be important for all TDs in the constituency to work together to ensure work resumes and is completed as a matter of urgency, and I have contacted Deputy Maureen O’Sullivan and Minister Paschal Donohoe to make this request.” ENDS
