Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor Janice Boylan has successfully had a motion passed at the central area committee that calls on Dublin City Council to erect a statue on O’Connell Street to honour the brave women and men of 1916.
Speaking after the meeting Cllr Boylan said:
“Although the history around the GPO and our capital city is widely known there is no monument or piece of art erected to honour the memory of these men and women.
I am pleased that my motion received so much support and that it has been referred to the commemorations committee, where I am hopeful my proposal will be given the support needed.”
