Rally to save Aldborough House – McDonald

Sinn Féin Deputy Leader and Dublin Central TD Mary Lou McDonald will hold a second rally at Aldborough House on Friday morning as part of an ongoing campaign to take the 18th century landmark into public ownership. Deputy McDonald has said that this building should be preserved as a community space to support and nurture local community needs and projects.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s rally, Deputy McDonald said,

“Sinn Féin has been campaigning on this issue now for some time. I have already made strong representations to both the Government and Dublin City Council that they should take this 18th century Georgian building into public ownership. Redeveloping this magnificent landmark as office space would be a crying shame.

Encouraging people to attend the rally on Friday the Dublin Central TD said,

“The north-inner city community want to see Aldborough House being made available to showcase local culture and talent. It could also be used to provide a central space for our young people and older citizens to come together. I’m calling on everyone to support the rally on Friday morning and by doing so they will send a clear message to the Government and DCC that the community wish to see Aldborough House restored for local use.” CRIOCH
