Sinn Féin support for Dublin’s fire service in strike action

Dublin Sinn Féin Councillor, Séamas McGrattan has pledged his party’s support for the city’s fire brigade who are embarking on industrial action later this month. The action is being taken to highlight their opposition to proposed changes to the Emergency Medical Service which will remove its ambulance call and dispatch function.

Speaking last night at a meeting of Dubin City Council where the matter was discussed, Councillor McGrattan said,

“There is fear and concern coming from members of the Dublin’s Fire Brigade and members of the public that these changes will impact on the effectiveness of the fire service in responding to callouts. Any delay to response times would greatly put our citizens at increased risk.

“The public recognise and value the work of our Fire Brigade and I have assured DFB of Sinn Féin’s support at this time. It is unfortunate that they have been forced to take this strike action as a last resort
